Find relief from constant worry, tension, and overwhelm — and start creating a life rooted in calm and confidence.
Your mind is flooded with thoughts, jumping from one set of worries to another. Your palms sweat, your heart races, and your muscles feel endlessly tense. Seemingly simple decisions feel paralyzing, leaving you feeling stuck and frozen. Anxiety can interfere with the most basic of day-to-day activities, leaving you feeling frustrated and depleted.
Anxiety can come in many forms – general worries about many things, phobias towards driving, flying, or social events, panic attacks, and the fear of future panic attacks. Anxiety might also interfere with your relationships, as you second-guess your interactions with your partner, boss, friends, or coworkers. The underlying thread is a feeling of discomfort that leaves you wanting to escape and shrink away from whatever is causing it.
I specialize in helping people like you identify the roots of your struggles with anxiety and learn how to respond more effectively when anxiety threatens to shrink your world. Working together, we’ll identify what is within your control and what is not, and examine ways you can start letting go of the things you can’t control. I’ll give you actionable techniques to help you approach your anxiety in a different way. We’ll explore ways to find calm and grounding, so that you can build more clarity and focus.
You’re tired of anxiety running your life, and my therapeutic approach can help you make a change and refocus on what matters to you.
If anxiety is interfering with your daily life - whether through constant worry, panic attacks, difficulty sleeping, or struggles in relationships - therapy can help. You don’t need to wait until things feel “bad enough” to seek support; therapy is helpful at any stage.
During your first session, I’ll be focused on helping you to get oriented and comfortable with the counseling process. I’ll ask you questions to learn more about you and what brings you to therapy. We’ll spend some time talking about what anxiety has looked like for you recently, and throughout your life, and we can also explore other areas of your life that you may want to address in counseling as well.
I recommend planning to meet weekly, at least for the first 6-8 sessions. After that, some people find it helpful to continue weekly until they meet their goals for therapy, and others find it useful to eventually space out their sessions to biweekly or monthly.
How long our work together will take can vary from person to person. Some people are able to meet their anxiety-related therapy goals within 1-3 months, while others benefit from the deeper work than longer term therapy can provide. I’ll give you a more tailored recommendation after we meet and I am able to learn more about your specific needs.
I blend several therapies to offer you tailored therapy to meet your specific needs. Often with anxiety, I find that a combination of acceptance and commitment therapy and compassion-focused therapy can help you build a kinder, more supportive relationship with yourself, and develop the courage to face the challenges that anxiety brings. I also bring in mindfulness-based techniques, helping you to slow down and more intentionally respond when anxiety comes up.
My approach to anxiety therapy is focused on helping you more mindfully move through anxiety and panic symptoms when they show up. We’ll work to build a kinder inner voice that can carry you through difficult moments of anxiety and panic. Unfortunately, I can’t promise that you’ll never feel anxiety (it’s a part of being human), but you’ll have the tools to face anxiety when it arises, which can give you the freedom to pursue a life worth living. Often, people find that with these tools and a focus on living a values-based life, anxiety and panic symptoms lessen over time.
Yes, everything you share in therapy is confidential, although there are a few legal exceptions where I may have to disclose confidential information:
Aside from these exceptions, your privacy is fully protected. I aim to create an environment where you feel safe and comfortable to fully share your experiences. I am happy to discuss any concerns you may have about confidentiality in more detail when we meet.
I help with a variety of concerns related to anxiety. Many of the people I work with experience what is called generalized anxiety, which is an experience of excessive worry about a variety of stressors that can lead to difficulty relaxing or functioning well day to day. I also work with people experiencing panic attacks, social anxiety, obsessions/compulsions, and some phobias. There are some cases where I may offer referrals for more specialized therapeutic care for specific anxiety-related disorders that fall outside of my scope of expertise.
I offer both online (over video) and in-person therapy. Online therapy is available to anyone located in Texas. My in-person therapy practice is in Houston, Texas, in the Heights neighborhood.
I take a collaborative approach to anxiety counseling, so we’ll work together to identify your goals. I’ll guide you to identify ways anxiety has interfered with the things that matter to you, and we’ll set goals based on that.
I am not in-network with any insurance providers, but I am happy to provide a receipt (also known as a superbill) if you would like to file for out-of-network reimbursement directly with your insurance company. You can learn more at the fees and practice policy page. [insert link]
